ACL & PCL Injury
There are two ligaments that crisscross each other in the knee joint in order to prevent the shinbone from sliding away from the thighbone. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) prevents the tibia from sliding in front of the femur, while the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) prevents it from sliding behind. ACL Injuries are the most common cause of knee pain. Athletes in high demand sports such as soccer, frequently sprain or tear this ligament due to the sharp and sudden movements required by the sport. Constrastly, the PCL is one of the least common ligament injuries, usually only seen after a car accident where the shin hits the dashboard. BioSkin Knee Braces are designed to address the initial swelling caused by the injury, as well as provide reliable support while the ligament heals.
